The Truth About Tapping Your Tesla Before Charging

why do you have to tap tesla before charging

You don’t have to tap your Tesla before charging. In fact, there is no scientific evidence that tapping the car or charger in any way affects the charging process. The tapping motion is simply a way to open the charging port on the car.

The charging port on Tesla cars is located on the left side of the car, just behind the tail light. To open the port, you need to tap it with your hand. This will cause the port to pop open, revealing the charging pins. You can then insert the charger into the pins and start charging.

Some people believe that tapping the car or charger before charging helps to improve the charging speed or connectivity. However, there is no evidence to support this claim. In fact, Tesla has stated that tapping the car or charger has no effect on the charging process.

So, why do people tap their Teslas before charging? It’s probably just a habit that some people have picked up. Or, it could be a way to feel like they are doing something to help the charging process along. Whatever the reason, there is no need to tap your Tesla before charging. It won’t make a difference.
